You must have heard of ‘Product Market Fit’ and ‘Founder Market Fit’ ~ but I’ve been thinking if there’s something like a “Founder Marketing Fit.”
I have seen two kinds of early stage founders.
Founders who are great at technical, operations and business side of things, but they feel out of depth on brand and marketing side of things.
So they focus on what they know best and relegate marketing and brand building to a later stage.
But there is also the other kind.
Founders who (in addition to sound product and technical knowledge), have a natural instinct for marketing and brand building.
They have a strong view on ~ how the brand should be presented to the world? How it should behave and how it should be marketed?
While they might not know exactly how to get there, but they have a clear vision of what good looks like and they look out for people who can bring this vision to life🤝
This set of founders with a brand instinct and a sharp marketing mind have an edge in building sharply differentiated brands.
Because, they put ‘brand’ at the centre of everything that the business does vs. treating it as an ancillary function to support business growth.
That for me is the ‘Founder Marketing Fit’ 💪
