I spent around seven years at SABMiller India and that one company groomed me more than any other organisation or an academic institution.
Why was that stint so transformative for me?
Because I was blessed with a series of exceptional managers during my stint there😇
Each one of them created a safe space where we (young talent) could suggest new ideas without any fear of judgement.
We were always encouraged to try out new things and more importantly we were given a license to fail.
No one was never singled out for things that didn’t work.
When a young talent is backed unconditionally like that, they feel empowered to take on more challenges. And that’s exactly what happened.
My tenure there felt like an adventure tackling one interesting assignment after another. From launching new brands to repositioning legacy brands. The learning was exponential🚀
We often crib about bad bosses because good bosses are indeed a rare find.
But if you find one, make the most of it.
A good manager can be one of the best mentors you can ever get.
